Hovis and Pizzaro to retire from Serie A

Il Messaggero has learned that Francesco Hovís is set to retire as AC Milan coach at the end of the season, having been sacked by the Rossoneri on December 30.

The club confirmed that he will not receive a new contract, after he said he wanted to play out his career with Milan.

The 39-year-old’s departure comes after two seasons in charge, with the Rossoniga losing their last four matches.

The Bianconeri had hoped to secure his services for the final few years of the current campaign but the situation became complicated after he criticised coach Cesare Prandelli, accusing him of not playing well enough.

Hov has won seven trophies in six seasons at the San Siro and has led Milan to three Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia titles, three Serie B titles and one Champions League title.
